JULY, TWO THOUSAND AND NINE

For the first twenty years of my life, I built my future around people and motivational books. I was a people's person. Then, I could tell you the top 10 motivational books on New York Times best-setter at any season. I was a reader, a writer and a public speaker. I read books and my head was full of ‘stuff’. It was a fairly good life sprinkled with few successes.

Until July 2009.

I gazed helplessly into a distant future to see my hope of greatness being dashed to pieces. Life came so tough and rough against me. The disaster was hot and came for where I least expected. It was so overwhelming that I literally drowned. I'd been basking in the illusion of friendship and books for 20 years. All for nothing! The defeat was so public and the despair so mighty that without a personal invitation from God, I would have been lost forever.

I turned to God. Somehow He has sabotaged my plans. It was my own 'Damascus Road' experience. God 'double-crossed' me on a narrow path that could not accommodate two views and He said, "Son, you won't make it on that road."

Grace dragged me to God. And on Sunday 10th July, 2010, I found myself on the track of my life's race ready to earnestly contend for the Faith.

God told me many things that have become my standard for living. He said, "As you run this race, know that some things are not your business, don’t meddle into them… Don’t at any phase build your future on your potentials; it will fail you on a grand scale… Be wary of men that will counsel you out of your Destiny. It is not a race between you and your mates; it is the race of your personal destiny. Watch out for the devil's alternatives. When you die, I will not put my tape-rule around your achievements and potentials, I will put it around your Destiny- to see how much you fulfill"

Since then, I'd been proclaiming to men from all walks of life the wonderful story of God's love that specializes in giving men Purpose for living.
